Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], May 17 (ANI): Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapoor has addressed the recent arrests of suspected spies in the districts of Panipat, Kaithal, and Hisar, stating that these arrests were the result of increased vigilance and heightened surveillance in the wake of recent national security concerns.
In a statement to the media, Kapoor underlined that the suspected spies had been active for some time, but their activities were exposed due to the intensified monitoring and improved intelligence-sharing mechanisms.
“After the Operation Sindoor and the major incident in Pahalgam, the situation that developed led to the exposure of such individuals. It’s not that they weren’t active before; they were working earlier as well, but now these people have been caught. This is also a result of the increased vigilance, and the heightened surveillance has led to better information reaching our intelligence agencies,” Kapoor said.
He further added that the atmosphere, resembling that of a war, has led to an uptick in such activities. However, the state police and intelligence agencies have been quick to respond.
“In this war-like atmosphere, their activities have increased, and as a result, they have been caught. Strict action will be taken against all of them, and if any such information comes to us from central agencies or our state agencies, immediate action will be taken, and legal proceedings will be initiated against them,” Kapoor warned.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini also addressed the issue, confirming that strict action is being taken against the arrested suspects. “They are being subjected to strict action,” Saini stated.
Meanwhile, CM Saini earlier participated in the Tiranga Yatra in Buhavi village, Kurukshetra.
According to a release, while speaking to the media, the Chief Minister said that the higher leadership had issued orders to hold Tiranga Yatra in every village, city, and locality of the country.
Following that directive, similar yatras are being conducted in Haryana as well. The entire country stands with the army and with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He strongly condemned some leaders who made adverse comments about army officers and their daughters, saying such statements were unbecoming. Regarding the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, he said that our army crushed the perpetrators within hours.
On the issue of water, the Chief Minister took a strong dig at Punjab’s Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. He said, “It is our tradition to offer water to any guest that comes to our home. Punjab is the land of great Gurus and Sages, and they have always preached the message of humanity. But the direction Bhagwant Mann has chosen, the people of Punjab will certainly give him an answer in the near future.” (ANI)
