Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 12 (ANI): Karnataka minister Ramalinga Reddy on Thursday said that he does not have any clue regarding the discussions which took place in New Delhi between Karnataka CM-Deputy CM and Congress party high command that resulted in the state ordering a re-do of the caste census.
Speaking to the reporters, Reddy mentioned that the government will conduct a cabinet meeting where Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar and other ministers will give their views on the caste survey.
He stated that the caste survey report was submitted to the government a long time back, but the BJP government did not take any action against it. The Karnataka minister asserted that in 1931, the last caste census took place in the country, and since then, no one knows how many people are in their respective communities.
“I don’t know what happened in Delhi, now we are having a cabinet meeting. CM, DCM and other ministers will give their opinion. I don’t know what they discussed with the high command. This report was submitted to the government long ago. But the BJP government was there, and why didn’t they take any decision? 1931 was the last caste census; since then, there has been nothing. Nobody knows how many people are in their community and their actual strength. BJP people are liars, and why are you giving prominence to them?”, Ramalinga Reddy told reporters in Bengaluru.
Meanwhile, earlier today, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Thursday said that today’s cabinet meeting will discuss the caste census re-survey, as several communities have raised concerns about missing or incorrect data.
Speaking to mediapersons, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said, “We will discuss it in today’s cabinet meeting. Many people have raised many questions. Therefore, we will review it in today’s special cabinet meeting. We also discussed whether it should be taken to the session. The party high command has also asked us to review it. Some people have said that our community has been left out. Some have said their numbers are less than the actual. That is why we are discussing it today.” (ANI)
