Gurugram (Haryana) [India], September 2 (ANI): Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi launched a scathing attack at the “double engine” government of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Haryana for not being able to curb waterlogging following heavy rainfall in Gurugram, which led to traffic jams across the city.
“Millennium City Gurugram. A double-engine sarkar with double the failure track record,” the UBT leader posted on X on Monday, while showing a video of National Highway 48 where cars were seen lining bumper to bumper, waiting for traffic to move for long stretches on the road.
Earlier, Gurugram’s Police Commissioner Vikas Arora and Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar conducted a late-night inspection of NH-48 and Sohna Road to assess the traffic and waterlogging situation.
Visuals from various areas in Gurugram, including from Rajiv Chowk, Signature Tower Chowk Underpass, and Patel Nagar, showed vehicles crawling while the roads were covered with water. People were seen wading through the water, trying to carry their things.
Gurugram received over 100 millimetres of rainfall till Monday evening. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Guguram on September 2, Tuesday.
Notably, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has issued an advisory urging people to work from home, and schools have been instructed to conduct online classes.
“In view of the forecast, all corporate offices and private institutions in the district are advised to guide their employees to work from home; and all schools in the district are advised to conduct online classes on 02-09-2025,” the advisory read.
IndiGo Airlines has also issued a travel advisory to travellers due to the slow movement of traffic, urging people to take alternate routes and check their flight status.
“Due to today’s downpour, several roads across #Delhi are currently blocked or experiencing slow movement. Please allow extra time, take an alternate route if possible, and check your flight status on our website or app before leaving for the airport. Our teams are working to keep things on track and support your journey,” IndiGo mentioned on X.
Congress workers protested earlier against the BJP-led state government for not managing the waterlogging following incessant rains in Gurugram.
The party workers took out a boat to show the condition of the streets after the rain, and shouted slogans, while the streets were filled with water.
Delhi metro operations were also affected following incessant rainfall, including between Indraprastha Metro station and Barakhamba station on the blue line. (ANI)
