Udham Singh Nagar (Uttarakhand) [India], September 1 (ANI): Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in a tribute program organised in memory of the 30th anniversary of the Khatima firing at the Martyr’s Memorial in Khatima, Udham Singh Nagar.
During the program, families of martyrs were assembled at Khatima, and guards of honour were also given to martyrs.

Ahead of this, Dhami also informed how the state government is taking steps for the empowerment of state agitators and their dependents.
In a post on X, Pushkar Singh Dhami wrote, “Heartfelt tribute to the activists who sacrificed their lives in the Khatima firing incident during the Uttarakhand state formation movement. The sacrifice made by you in the creation of the state is unforgettable. Our government is continuously working in accordance with the dreams of the martyrs. A system of 10 per cent horizontal reservation has been implemented for the empowerment of state agitators and their dependents.”
On 28 August 2000, then President of India, K R Narayanan, approved the Uttar Pradesh Reorganisation Bill and then it turned into an Act on 9 November 2000, the new state Uttaranchal came into existence as the 27th state of India now known as Uttarakhand.
Earlier, the office bearers of Uttarakhand Rajya Andolankari Manch met Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday at Mukhya Sevak Sadan, located at the Chief Minister’s residence.
Office bearers expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister for the arrangement of providing a 10 per cent horizontal reservation in government service for the state agitators.
The Chief Minister said that “our goal is to make Uttarakhand like the dream of the state agitators. In this direction, we are working diligently towards a resolution without any alternative.”
The people of the state will always remember the struggle of the state agitators in the formation of the state, he said. Dhami further said that he has also been a witness to the state formation movement. (ANI)
