New Delhi [India], August 4 (ANI): Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth and several MPs paid tribute to former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and leader of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Shibu Soren, who passed away on Monday after a prolonged illness.
MoS Sanjay Seth said that Shibu Soren was the pioneer of the Jharkhand statehood movement and interacted with everyone across the political spectrum with “love and respect.”
“Dishom Guru, Shibu Soren was the pioneer of the Jharkhand movement, and later Atal Bihari Vajpayee granted a separate state. But as a guardian, transcending all political ideologies, he always interacted with everyone with love and respect. Shibu Soren’s passing is deeply saddening for the entire country,” MoS Seth said.
BJP MP Deepak Prakash expressed “shock” over Soren’s demise and prayed for strength to his family.
Deepak Prakash said, “Today we are all shocked, and there is pain in our hearts. Shibu Soren is no longer among us; he was the voice of Jharkhand. He will be remembered as the pioneer of Jharkhand’s identity and the movement for a separate Jharkhand state. May God grant his soul a place at his feet and provide strength to his family to bear this pain in such a time of crisis.”
AAP MP Sanjay Singh called it an “irreparable loss” for the people of Jharkhand and met his son and Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren to express condolences.
“For all of us, especially for the people of Jharkhand, people of the country and the tribal community, this is an irreparable loss. We met his son and Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren. On behalf of AAP and Arvind Kejriwal, we expressed our condolences for Shibu Soren. His last rites are likely to be performed tomorrow in his native village. We will attend it,” Sanjay Singh told the reporters.
JDU MP Sanjay Kumar Jha noted that when Bihar and Jharkhand were united, Shibu Soren was a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly.
“This is very sad. When Bihar and Jharkhand were united, he was a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly… We pay our tributes to him. He had a very big name in Bihar and Jharkhand,” the JDU MP said.
National President of Azad Samaj Party-Kanshiram, Chandra Shekhar Azad, said, “It is sad. He had a long struggle for the establishment of the Jharkhand state. This is a difficult time. I pray that his family gets the strength to bear this loss.”
Shibu Soren passed away at the age of 81 today in New Delhi.
Shibu Soren led the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha for 38 years and is known as the founding patron of the party. He was the third Chief Minister of Jharkhand. Over a four-decade career in politics, Soren was elected to the Lok Sabha eight times and served as a Rajya Sabha MP for two terms. (ANI)
