Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], August 10 (ANI): Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bengaluru visit, Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra on Sunday said that the inauguration of the new Yellow line metro is a “dream come true” for the public.
Vijayendra said that more than eight lakh people in Bengaluru’s southern districts will benefit from the new metro line.
The BJP leader told ANI, “Not only Bengaluru, entire Karnataka, the people of Karnataka, they’re eagerly waiting for the Prime Minister’s arrival. It’s a dream come true for lakhs and lakhs of Bangaloreans. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be here today to inaugurate the Metro Yellow Line, which will benefit more than eight lakh people in Bangalore’s southern districts.”
Vijayendra said that the people of Karnataka are happy.
“And he’ll also be inaugurating Vande Bharat Express between Bengaluru and Belgavi. So people of Karnataka are more than happy,” he said.
Karthik Reddy, Deputy Inspector General and Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Bengaluru, said that traffic diversions have been intimated to the public, and the heavy vehicles have been diverted on the outskirts of the city ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit.
“Prime Minister is visiting Bengaluru and will attend the inauguration of Vande Bharat at the railway station and the inauguration of the Yellow Line in Ragigudda, followed by a function in Electronic City. So the diversions have already been intimated to the public, and the heavy vehicles have been diverted to the outskirts of the city. All arrangements with respect to traffic have been done by the police,” DIG Reddy told ANI.
According to a press release, the Prime Minister on Sunday will inaugurate the Yellow line from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra of the Bangalore Metro Phase-2 project, having a route length of over 19 km with 16 stations worth around Rs 7,160 crore.
With the opening of this yellow line, the operational metro network in Bengaluru will increase to over 96 km, serving a large population in the region.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of the Bangalore Metro Phase-3 project worth over Rs 15,610 crore. The total route length of the project will be more than 44 km with 31 elevated stations. This infrastructure project will address the growing transportation needs of the city, catering to residential, industrial, commercial and educational areas.
The Bengaluru metro is currently operated and maintained by Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), a joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Karnataka.
PM Modi will also flag off three Vande Bharat Express trains from Bengaluru. It includes trains from Bengaluru to Belagavi, Amritsar to Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Nagpur (Ajni) to Pune. These high-speed trains will significantly enhance regional connectivity, reduce travel time and provide a world-class travel experience to the passengers. (ANI)
