Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 28 (ANI): The Hyderabad City Police has hailed the honesty of an auto driver who found a handbag with over Rs 2 lakh cash in his auto, which belonged to a passenger, and assisted the authorities in tracing the owner to return the money.
Terming it a heart-warming act of honesty, Hyderabad Police said that P Mahender of Vikarabad district visited a shopping mall in Trimulgherry on May 26. He travelled by auto from Madina.
The police said that the passenger accidentally left behind his handbag in the auto — containing Rs 2,08,000 in cash.
“The honest auto driver promptly reached Trimulgherry Police Station, assisted in tracing the owner, and returned the bag with the entire amount,” Hyderabad Police said in a post on X.
It said the SHO of Trimulgherry appreciated the auto driver for his honesty — “a shining example of how good values continue to inspire our community”.
Meanwhile, the Hyderabad police on May 23 arrested a man accused of murder.
The 31-year-old Shiva is a resident of Mahatma Gandhi Nagar, East Maredpally, Secunderabad. He was arrested by the police based on CCTV footage and was produced before the court, as per a press release by Dy. Commissioner of Police, North Zone, Hyderabad.
On May 18, the Mahankali police station of Hyderabad registered a murder case under sections 103 of the Bharatiya Nyay Samhita (BNS) based on a complaint call by an unidentified male.
It was reported that an unknown man was found dead lying in a pool of blood on the footpath in front of a furniture shop in S.D. Road, Secunderabad. (ANI)
