Law & order under control in Telangana’s Jainoor after clashes over alleged sexual assault of Advasi woman – World News Network

Asifabad (Telangana) [India], September 5 (ANI): The law and order situation is currently under control in Jainoor after violent clashes erupted over the alleged sexual assault and attempt to murder an Advasi woman recently, Telangana CMO said.
One accused was arrested after the Advasi woman was sexually assaulted in Jainoor Mandal of KB Asifabad District in Telangana. A bandh was called on Wednesday by Adivasi organisations including Tudum Dibba over the incident.
The administration spoke to both sides to ensure that Bandh was held in a responsible manner. However, some people started vandalising properties of and there was retaliation from the other side too leading to arson, pelting stones and damage of properties.
SP KB Asifabad with his team was the first responder with additional forces from neighbouring Adilabad, Mancherial, Sirsila, Jagtial Districts and TGSP platoons. SPs/DCPs of neighbouring districts joined in controlling of situation. More than 1000 police personnel have been deployed to bring the situation under control by the police.
The Telangana CMO said that the RAF is being deployed and DGP Telangana, ADG (Law & Order), IG North Zone are constantly monitoring the situation.
Prohibitory curfew orders 144 CrPC/163 BNSS has been issued by district administration. People are warned not to violate prohibitory orders. A ban on the internet has been enforced in the areas as a precautionary measure to avoid the spread of rumours and fake news.
A flag march along with the announcement of prohibitory orders has been done in the affected area. Pickets are posted to instill confidence.
“Special teams have been formed and investigations in incidents of arson and violence have been started to identify offenders, and strict action has been ordered against them as per law. Loss of property that happened during violence will be assessed and will be forwarded to the government for further necessary action,” the CMO said.
Police has appealed to all people to maintain restraint as the accused in the alleged case of sexual assault with attempt to murder has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody by Jainoor Police.
“Medical treatment of the victim is going on in Gandhi Hospital and all treatment expenses is being borne by administration. Victim compensation of Rs one Lakh has already been given to the victim,” the CMO added.
SP Asifabad has interacted with elders of the area for maintaining peace. People have been informed not to believe on rumours. Telangana CMO said that circulation of provocative social media posts without any truth may attract penal action. For any emergency people can Dial 100. At present situation is under control. (ANI)
