Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], August 3 (ANI): Odisha Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo on Sunday asked the Opposition not to politicise the case of the 15-year-old girl who succumbed to her injuries after being set on fire by miscreants.
Expressing condolences to her family, he said that the state government had taken all necessary steps to save her.
Singh Deo told ANI, “I want to express my condolences to her family. The state government took all necessary steps. She was sent to AIIMS Delhi as well, but the doctors were unable to save her. The opposition parties should stay away from politicising such matters. The government has taken all necessary steps, but unfortunately, her life could not be saved.
He added that the family of the victim also stands with the government and acknowledges the efforts made.
“Normally, in such cases, the victim’s family doesn’t stand with the government, but the family is with the government, and they are saying the government has done its best and that they are satisfied with it, so the intervention of any third party in the case is unfortunate,” he said.
Earlier today, the father of the 15-year-old girl from Odisha who succumbed to her burn injuries said that he does not want to blame anyone and requested that his family be kept away from politics.
Speaking to ANI, the victim’s father said, “I don’t want to point fingers at anyone. Everyone prayed for my daughter, irrespective of religion. I am not upset with anyone. My daughter was not part of my destiny.”
“I don’t want to blame anyone. I request you to please keep me and my family away from politics. Everything was fine till she was at home with us. I don’t know how this happened,” he added.
The victim’s uncle said that the family does not blame anyone for her demise, as the government has helped them, and even the doctors did their job.
He told ANI, “God has taken her away from us. We cannot blame anyone now. The government has helped us a lot. The doctors and the entire staff at the hospital were very good. Everyone has done their job perfectly. We don’t have a problem with anyone.”
He further said that the father of the girl has slipped into depression.
“The father has slipped into depression. He is not in a state to say anything. Seeing him like this pains me,” the uncle said.
The 15-year-old girl succumbed to her burn injuries on Saturday while undergoing treatment at AIIMS in the national capital, after she was allegedly set on fire by miscreants in the Balanga area of Odisha’s Puri district on July 19.
According to the police, the minor girl went out with her friends, but she was allegedly abducted midway and taken to the riverside, where she was set on fire. (ANI)
