Patna (Bihar) [India], October 12 (ANI): Janata Dal (United) leader Rajiv Ranjan Prasad expressed confidence in the National Democratic Alliance’s victory in the upcoming Bihar assembly polls, cautioning the Rashtriya Janata Dal to be prepared for a worse situation than in 2010.
The NDA ended up securing a thumping majority in the 2010 Bihar assembly polls, winning 206 out of 243 Vidhan Sabha seats. The JD(U) secured victory on 115 seats, whereas the BJP won 91 seats.
The JD(U) leader further said that the NDA will secure a significant victory in the upcoming Bihar elections under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
“RJD’s seats will decrease significantly. RJD should mentally prepare for a situation worse than 2010. The public has made up its mind that under the leadership of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the NDA is heading towards a major victory. We will fight together, and it is certain that the government will be formed under Nitish Kumar’s leadership,” he told ANI.
The polling for the 243 assembly constituencies will take place on November 6 and November 11. Counting of votes will take place on November 14.
The primary contest in Bihar is between the incumbent National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and the Mahagathbandhan led by the RJD.
In the current Bihar Assembly, comprising 243 members, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) consists of 131 members, with the BJP having 80 MLAs, JD(U) having 45, HAM(S) having 4, and the support of 2 Independent Candidates.
National Democratic Alliance (NDA) includes the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal (United) (JDU), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha.
The INDIA bloc includes the Rashtriya Janata Dal, Congress party, the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (CPI-ML) led by Deepankar Bhattacharya, the Communist Party of India (CPI), the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM), and Mukesh Sahani’s Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP). Additionally, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj has also staked claims on all 243 seats of the state. (ANI)
