Balurghat (West Bengal) [India], April 3 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Wednesday said that West Bengal would witness a new direction after the Lok Sabha election results, with the BJP expected to secure a significant number of seats compared to last year.
CM Saha said this upon his arrival at Balurghat in West Bengal to participate in the nomination filing process of Sukanta Majumdar, the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate and president of West Bengal BJP for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Balurghat, along with Darjeeling, and Raiganj in the northern part of Bengal, will go to the polls on April 26 in the second phase.

He also led a rally at Balurghat, which saw a massive turnout indicating the victory of the BJP.

Tripura CM Saha expressed optimism about the changing scenario in West Bengal after the Lok Sabha elections.

“I am delighted to be here today as Dr. Sukanta Majumder, the President of BJP West Bengal, filed his nomination. I have come here to participate and filed the nomination. I am confident that West Bengal’s landscape will transform in the coming days. The Lok Sabha results will provide a new direction to West Bengal. Last year, BJP won 18 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, and this time, with the commendable work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we anticipate crossing 400 seats with NDA.” said CM Saha.
“What Bengal thinks today, India thinks tomorrow, and this will be realized after this Lok Sabha election. The results will be even better than last time. The current situation in West Bengal differs from the past. During the CPIM regime, the state witnessed violence and unrest, which unfortunately persisted under the Trinamool Congress rule. This should not continue,” Tripura CM added.

CM Saha further emphasized the peaceful electoral environment in Tripura, where BJP, CPIM, and Congress flags coexist without issues. He urged everyone to participate in the election process with a festive spirit.
West Bengal will go to the polling booths in the coming general election in all seven phases of the election.
In most of the constituencies in the state, the main fight is between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the principal opposition in the state, the BJP.
Though the TMC is part of the INDIA bloc, it does not have a seat-sharing arrangement with the other parties in the alliance, like Congress and the Left parties in the state.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) secured 22 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 18 out of the 42 parliamentary seats in the state. The Indian National Congress (INC) was limited to only two seats.
The Lok Sabha elections in 42 Parliamentary Constituencies of West Bengal are scheduled to take place in seven phases, which will start on April 19 and conclude on June 1. The counting of votes will be held on June 4. (ANI)
