Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 1 (ANI): The Uttar Pradesh government, following Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s instructions, has taken stern action in the tank collapse case, which took place in Mathura on Sunday.
Taking a firm stance against negligence in government work, the Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam (Urban), in line with CM Yogi’s directives, has swiftly responded to the collapse of a 2500 KL/20-meter capacity water tank in Krishna Vihar Colony, Mathura, part of the Mathura Drinking Water Restructuring Scheme through Gokul Barrage Part-1, on Monday, suspending three officials while FIRs have been registered against there firms.
Additionally, a high-level investigation committee has been formed to probe the incident thoroughly.
Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam (Urban) has filed FIRs against three firms (SM Construction, Banwari, and Trilok Singh Rawat) and several employees in kotwali, Mathura, under Sections 304 and 338.
In addition, Assistant Engineer Lalit Mohan, Junior Engineer Birendra Pal, and Ravindra Pratap Singh, who were assigned to the scheme, have been suspended, with orders issued for further investigation.
Furthermore, a disciplinary investigation has been initiated against the then Assistant Engineer, Divyanshu Kumar Singh.
In this case, since UP Jal Nigam (Rural) has administrative control over Executive Engineer Maharaj Singh, Kumkum Gangwar, Dayanand Sharma and then Assistant Engineer Ram Prakash Yadav, a letter has been written to the Managing Director, UP Jal Nigam (Rural) to take immediate action against them as per rules.
Furthermore, an inquiry committee chaired by the Chief Engineer of Ghaziabad region, UP Jal Nigam (Urban), Ghaziabad, has been formed to investigate technical deficiencies related to the case.
This committee will seek assistance from esteemed institutions such as IIT Delhi or IIT Kanpur to conduct a thorough investigation and produce a detailed report.
Earlier, two women lost their lives while 13 people were injured after an overhead tank collapsed in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura on Sunday, said a top police official.
The injured have been admitted to hospital and their treatment is underway. Out of 13 injured, one of them is in critical condition.
As per the information, several houses, situated near the water tanker were affected in the incident as debris and leaked water from the tank entered many houses, resulting in damage to electrical equipment while various cars parked on the road were also damaged.
The incident took place in Krishna Vihar area of Awas Vikas Colony of Kotwali police station in Mathura.
However, immediately after the incident, administrative officials reached the spot and started relief and rescue work. The police force, NDRF, SDRF, and other emergency services are deployed on the spot and are constantly monitoring the rescue operation. (ANI)
